Community Workshop: How to Treat the (Religious) Other?

The Academy is co-leading this educational workshop with the Orange County Interfaith Network. The workshop is being hosted by the Newport Mesa Unified School District and was initiated in response to a recent antisemitic incident by a group of high school students in the district.

In our increasingly diverse society, how do we respectfully and constructively engage with others who may not share our beliefs or traditions? Especially adolescents in their formative years are confronted with a bewildering cacophony of voices  in this era of divisive public rhetoric. As the future leaders of our society, they need a supportive educational environment which allows them to develop solid personal values and the intellectual and emotional skills to contribute to a better tomorrow.
