What is the official position of Islam on the issue of terrorism? In 2005, the Fiqh Council of North America, the highest council of religious law for US and Canadian Muslims issued a Fatwa Against Terrorism. This Fatwa, or religious decree, has been endorsed by over 145 Muslim organizations, mosques, imams (religious leaders), and scholars, including all the largest Muslim institutions in the US and Canada.
The Fiqh Council of North America is chaired by Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, a member of the Academy Board of Directors.
