Reinhard Krauss, Ph.D.
Executive Director
Reinhard Krauss is the Executive Director of the Academy for Judaic, Christian, and Islamic Studies. From 2008 to 2019, he taught Inter-religious Studies as a Lecturer at the Center for the Study of Religion opens in a new tab at UCLA. In addition, he is a member of the faculty of the New Theological Seminary of the West opens in a new tab, and of Bayan opens in a new tab, a Muslim graduate school in Chicago, Ill.
A native of Germany, Dr. Krauss studied at the German universities of Tübingen and Bonn and received his Ph.D. in Theology from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He is an accomplished academic translator, including being one of the main contributors to the new English edition opens in a new tab of the works of the German theologian and pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer opens in a new tab, a key leader of the resistance against Hitler’s Nazi regime.
Since 2012, Dr. Krauss has been a member of the Board of Directors and the Council of Chaplains of the University Religious Conference at UCLA opens in a new tab. He also has served as President of the South Coast Interfaith Council opens in a new tab as well as Harbor Interfaith Services opens in a new tab. Dr. Krauss is a recipient of the ‘Interfaith Courage Award’ by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) opens in a new tab and the United States Congress, as well as the ‘Interfaith Unity Award’ by the South Coast Interfaith Council opens in a new tab.
