The Near-Sacrifice of Abraham’s Son
In the Torah, Christian Scripts, and the Qur’an

The Torah and the Qur’an both tell a story of Abraham’s near sacrifice of his son. The Christian Scriptures do not retell the story but contain explicit references to the version in Torah.
At first sight, the narratives in the Torah and the Qur’an are almost identical. In this study, we closely examined the two versions of the narrative and discovered they contain crucial differences which shed light on the larger framework of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim theology and ethics, including contemporary beliefs and practices of the three traditions.
